Hello, Plug! You can use the same Principal ID to access ICP, Cycles, other tokens, and effortlessly log into IC apps with the help of an Internet Computer browser extension wallet and authentication provider.
The first release was today! You can download/install this Alpha V0.1.0 version of Plug from our GitHub to give it a try. It initially just covers all ICP wallet functions.
It's available for Firefox and Chrome/Chromium browsers (like Brave!) to download and install from our GitHub releases (Firefox ESR, Developer, or Nightly only, until available on stores).
While Plug is being reviewed by the various app stores (which should take about a week), we wanted to get an early version of the app in the open to get some feedback and eyeballs on it.
What is the purpose of Plug?
To manage all of your assets (Cycles/ICP/tokens, NFTs, etc.) and to log into any IC app, you only need one main wallet (your Principal ID). There is no need to be concerned about utilizing several wallets or creating multiple identities for each device or app (like you would when using Internet Identity).
To access everything, you simply need a single Principal ID. One single identity and digital wallet for the Internet.
What Plug is all about is that.
The ability to use the same Principal ID across multiple apps and the adoption of Principal IDs as the Internet Computer's primary unique identifiers will, in our opinion, help reduce friction and improve network effects, composability, and user experiences.
